Peter Leunig is Executive Director of Institutional Advancement at Macquarie University. He was recruited 6 months ago from the University of Western Australia to drive Macquarie's ambitious fundraising, alumni and community engagement efforts.
Peter, who has Bachelor degrees in Pathology and Music from UWA, established its Office of Development in March 1998 and built a highly successful development and fundraising operation. He initiated and directed the formation of the University's Hackett Foundation which has since received gifts and pledges worth well over $100 million for local and national projects. He personally negotiated many significant and major gifts to the University and beyond, including an Australia-wide multi-million dollar international sponsorship of studies in the humanities.
His recreational interests include sport and classical music with a particular love of the pipe organ, and its repertoire from the French and German Romantic period.
