About Us
Western Sydney Dance Action is a dance development organisation that functions as a regional incubator for dance activity based at Riverside Theatres in Parramatta. WSDA facilitates opportunities for artists and communities to engage with dance to enhance participation, presentation and production of the art form. The four core areas of activity include: Dance Development, Artist Support, Education and Audience Development.
The Position
The Board of Western Sydney Dance Action is looking for a dynamic leader to fill an interim position as director until November 2008 with the possibility of an extension.
As the interim Director, you will be responsible for the overall development of existing projects and programming for 2008 and liaise with companies to draft a performance program for 2009.
This position requires strong leadership skills as you will be advising the current administrator. Experience of working in project management and/or the performing arts industry is a must and good networks within the arts and dance industries are a bonus.
Reports to: Board, WSDA
Duties the Interim Director will undertake will include (but not limited to):
• Liaise with artists, contractors
• Oversee co-ordination of projects and programs with artists
• Oversee and liaise with funding bodies as required
• Give direction and mentor to administrator in co-ordinating projects and programs
SELECTION CRITERIA
> Essential
• Demonstrated knowledge of performing arts industry
• Demonstrated experience in project management
• Demonstrate initiative and ability to work in a small team with minimal supervision
• Experience in working in a small office environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail
> Desirable
• Specific knowledge of Australian dance industry
• Contacts within the dance industry
• Ability to write and acquit grants applications
• Ability to report to a Board

The position is part-time (15-20 hours per week) with additional hours during peak times & when required and is based at Riverside Theatres, Corner of Church and Market Streets, Parramatta. Flexible work conditions available. The salary is negotiable and under contract for an interim period.
