WESTERN SYDNEY DANCE ACTION APPOINTS NEW ADMINISTRATOR

It is with great excitement that Western Sydney Dance Action (WSDA) appoints Kiri Morcombe as their new part-time administrator.
Director of WSDA, Olivia Ansell, says that Kiri will be a great asset to the organisation, and comes with a wealth of knowledge and project management experience from her previous positions at both Parramatta City Council and Riverside Theatres. Both Olivia and the board of WSDA warmly welcome Kiri to the team.
Western Sydney Dance Action is a key facilitator of dance activity, production and service to the Western Sydney region and beyond. WSDA’s values include engaging, sustaining, connecting and enriching the community through supporting artists and their development. WSDA's mission allows for a variety of outcomes in the four core areas of the organisation's activity which include: Artist Support, Audience Development, Dance Development, and Education. All areas of WSDA's activity are focused on participation and providing the best possible experiences for all stake holders. This reflects WSDA's position as a centre for excellence in artistic development and presentation.
Kiri comes to us from Parramatta City Council, where she worked for 2 years with the Arts and Culture team, and closely with the Parramatta Artists Studios focussing on administration and project coordination and management, including the City Live Parramatta Mall program, the Studios current and first community project: parraMATariki – Stories From Across the Sea, a series of community weaving workshops, contributing to an exhibition by an international artist, mentoring a local artist.
Her previous and varied engagement at Riverside Theatres spanning some six years brings familiarity and continuity to the role, and with the added local and corporate knowledge, Kiri brings a wealth of experience to the organisation and its future operational success.
Stepping back into the dance sector, Kiri comes from a varied background of arts practice, including choreography, photography, visual arts, design (especially found and recycled fashion), costuming and wardrobe
Creative arts driven, Kiri believes in investment in education and mentoring, and art for community and is slowly but surely dipping her toes back into her own dance and creative practices including choreographic work and design for independent and contemporary art.
Kiri has worked very closely with and for WSDA for projects in the past (set design, costume design and performance) and is looking forward to contributing to the organisation in a practical way.
