Background
The World Dance Alliance (WDA) serves as a primary voice for dance throughout the world, ncouraging the exchange of ideas and the awareness of dance in all its forms. The Global Summit is an international activity of the World Dance Alliance that brings together specialists from each of the WDA Chapters (Asia/Pacific, Europe and The Americas) to focus, analyse and reflect on the development of dance/arts practice and research in a global context, undertaking choreographic and performance projects, and publishing regularly. Its activities are initiated and realised through five networks: Research & Documentation, Creation & Presentation, Education & Training, Management & Promotion, and Welfare & Status.
The conference / performative dialogues component of the WDA Global Summit, to be held at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Creative Industries Precinct, will explore the following key issues facing culture and the arts in the 21st century:
· mind/body connections
· sustainability
· transcultural conversations
· re-thinking the way we make dance/performance
