Presented by Australian Theatre for Young People (atyp) and CarriageWorks

ATYP’s 2008 major production VX18504, co-presented and performed at Sydney’s hottest contemporary performance venue CarriageWorks, will once again see its young members, aged 12 – 26, pushing boundaries as performers with this physical theatre piece directed by internationally acclaimed director Meryl Tankard.
This is a new production of VX18504 in which Meryl will return to the ideas and concepts of the original work created for the Meryl Tankard Company in 1989. Through adapting the piece for the young performers of atyp, she has been able to find even greater resonance in the work’s revelations about the origins and impact of conflict in our society.
VX18504 was the army service number of Sergeant Mick (Clifford Matthew Tankard), Meryl Tankard's father.
In this exuberant and thought-provoking blend of theatre and dance, Meryl Tankard explores the origins of conflict in our society, from childhood cruelty and backyard brawls to the ravages of war. Profoundly moving, this unique theatrical experience speaks to audiences of all ages, amplified by the humour, optimism and boundless energy of a youthful cast.
