These workshops will begin from the premise that everyone has a voice, a story to tell and untapped skills to realise it all.  Using somatic visualization as an entry point into individual movement, sounding and language, participants will be guided gently into a contemplative, reflective self-absorption.  You will be encouraged to follow threads arising from this process into sounding and moving exercises that will focus on tasks and allow intention to engage intuitively with meaning. This workshop is suitable for anyone interested in the integration of sound, text and moving as a process for building confidence and self-realisation to create performance and extend skills within a range of contexts.  You will also have fun!

“I am interested in finding ways that assist us in converting meditative curiosity into craft and retain authenticity within the ‘narratives’ we create for the performance space.  This workshop will focus on time and listening in the imaginative space and its relations to perception in performance.  It will provide a supportive environment for the personal or performative exploration of this space.”

Tony Osborne has been improvising performance for twenty-five years and teaching it for ten. He has been co-curator of Sydney’s monthly improv events, Rushing For The Sloth and Whip It, and regularly creates performance work in collaboration with a variety of theatre, sound and dance practitioners.  He is also known for his short and full-length improvised theatre as well as solo vocal/electronic sound pieces and more recently as vocalist with the Splinter Orchestra.
