SURRY DANCE - Contemporary Movement Classes - A hip introduction to the physics & concepts of 21st Century dance.
Fresh from working with Doug Elkins at the Dance New Amsterdam studios in NYC in June & July, Charemaine Seet is back to teach contemporary dance developed in NYC & London. Her style is a postmodern fusion of Capoeira, yoga, contact improv, hip hop, & ballet. Classes are held on wooden SPRUNG floors at the new Surry Hills Community Centre (405 Crown St). Charemaine initiates students into contact improv, inversions & partnering with an intuitive & safe approach.
Charemaine was a soloist & choreographer in London & NYC before returning to Sydney. She was a key member of Union Dance's renowned youth education program in the UK and still works closely with Doug Elkins in NYC. Charemaine has a BA(Hons) from the London Contemporary Dance School and was a scholarship student at the Merce Cunningham Studio.
