Carlee Mellow moves to Sydney from Melbourne, bringing her diverse experience as a choreographer, performer and teacher spanning the last 14 years. She has worked in both film and live performance working with choreographers Phillip Adams (BalletLab), Gideon Obarzanek (Chunky Move), Sandra Parker (Dance Works), Tracie Mitchell, Lisa Nelson (US), Russell Maliphant (UK), Ros Warby, Prue Lang (Fr) and Meryl Tankard, amongst others. Her choreographic work has been presented in Melbourne and Berlin. Commissions include Dance Works, Natalie Cursio’s ‘The Album Project’ at the Victorian Arts Centre and Lucy Guerin Inc. Other works include her adaptation of In The Dark, by Deborah Hay, Simmer for Melbourne Fringe Festival 2010 and her solo work, EXPECTATION presented by Arts House which received 4 Green Room and 2 Australian Dance Award nominations.
Carlee’s dance experience extends beyond the studio into artist management and curation. She was Program Producer at Dancehouse from 2008 – 2010 and class & workshop coordinator at Chunky Move from 2005 - 2007.
Carlee has taught the 3rd year students at the VCA since 2004 and the post-graduate students from 2008 - 2010. She regularly teaches at Chunky Move and has taught at Lucy Guerin Inc., Dancehouse, Oz Opera, Bangarra Dance Theatre, KAGE Physical Theatre and Dance Works. She is also a qualified yoga teacher.
