My Pointe’ DVD/CD by Vicki Attard, former Principal Artiste of the Australian Ballet

‘My Pointe’ dvd is a unique programme specifically designed by Vicki Attard to increase sensitivity, develop control, heighten awareness and awaken new muscles. Vicki has developed this challenging programme to meet the needs of students and teachers requiring supplementary pointe work. The programme is multi layered to adapt to the beginner on pointe through to the full time dance student. The dvd/cd encompasses a series of barre exercises, with introductions, slow motion demonstrations and explanations, through to the centre which involves pirouettes and hops on pointe. Moving From Within, a monthly exploration of somatic movement education, improvisational dance and authentic movement with Angela Hill in Willoughby beginning this Saturday the 20th 4-5:30pm.

Moving From Within is a monthly exploration of Somatic Education, Improvisational Dance and Authentic Movement that will bring you into a mindful connection with your moving body for greater vitality, presence and expression. You will discover your patterns of tension and resourcing, gaining new possibilities of perception and coordination through movement. Various methods and themes will be explored, giving you the opportunity to connect both deeply and playfully to your body-mind.

My First Ballet Class

Nigel Gaynor is Resident Conductor of the Northern Ballet Theatre in the UK. He has conducted over fifty ballets for the Australian Ballet and played as solo pianist in venues such as the Royal Opera House in London and the Metropolitan Opera House in New York.

On each CD there are forty pieces for the full range of barre and centre exercises, with music for specific exercises such as petit battements and releves or several choices for tendus, waltzes and pirouettes. All pieces are clearly identified on the CD cover with time signature and number of counts, have a 4 bar introduction and are suitable in tempo, length and emotional quality for the exercises listed.

Graeme Spencer

Graeme Spencer is a teacher/choreographer who has relocated to Sydney from the UK at the start of the year and is seeking teaching work within central Sydney, but is happy to travel further afield for workshop/project related work opportunities. He currently works with the Arts Unit, teaches part time with the DET, as a dance lecturer on the dance degree at Wesley Institute and as a relief teacher for Sydney Dance Company. Trained at the prestigious Laban Centre London, Graeme specialises in Contemporary dance but is also trained in commercial genres with the IDTA. He holds a PGCE and is experienced at teaching within education holding the position of Head of Dance at Hurstpierpoint College in the UK for the last two years, in addition to teaching at professional dance studios. He has choreographed for youth dance companies, produced dance film work, independently created dance installations/site specific work and has choreographed for UK TV. He hopes to bring his passion and energy to the Sydney dance scene and is open to new work opportunities and experiences.
