The Silver Rose - An Australian premiere from Graeme Murphy
Venue: Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House
Dates: 9 - 29 April
Tickets: Go to www.sydneyoperahouse.com OR PH: (02) 9250 7777
Choreographic legend Graeme Murphy returns to The Australian Ballet stage in 2010 with a dazzling new full-length work. Based loosely on The Rose Cavalier, The Silver Rose is a ballet of romantic intrigue and love gone wrong. The Marschallin, an actress, is still very beautiful but fears her lover might fall for a younger woman. Inevitably he does. Against spectacular Art Nouveau sets, the cast tie each other in romantic knots. It seems in turn-of-last-century Vienna, love is a dangerous game. With music by Australian composer Carl Vine, The Silver Rose is set to be Murphy's sell-out success of 2010.

Coppélia
Three acts of magic, mayhem and mistaken identity
Venue: Opera Theatre, Sydney Opera House
Dates: 4 - 22 May 2010
Tickets: Go to www.sydneyoperahouse.com OR PH: (02) 9250 7777
Coppélia has everything a good story ballet should: a touch of magic, a dash of romance and masses of sumptuous costumes. It all begins at the Harvest Festival, where the appearance of Dr Coppelius and his mysterious 'doll' Coppélia upset the celebrations. Village boy Franz falls for Coppélia but when his feisty fiancée exacts her revenge, he learns the hard way not to romance living dolls. Coppélia has been a family favourite for 140 years now, and this production is one of the very finest, with fairytale sets and costumes and a thoroughly danceable score.

Chunky Move presents MORTAL ENGINE - Coming to Sydney in May 2010
DATES: 5 - 15 May 2010
VENUE: Sydney Theatre, Walsh Bay
TICKETS: Go to www.sydneytheatre.org.au OR Ph: (02) 9250 1999
Following acclaimed seasons in Edinburgh, Sydney, Melbourne and New York, Mortal Engine returns to Sydney!
Mortal Engine is a dance-video-music-laser performance using movement and sound responsive projections to portray an ever-shifting, shimmering world in which the limits of the human body are an illusion. Crackling light and staining shadows represent the most perfect or sinister of souls. Kinetic energy fluidly metamorphoses from the human figure into light image, into sound and back again. Choreography is focused on movement of unformed beings in an unfamiliar landscape searching to connect and evolve in a constant state of becoming. Veering between moments of exquisite cosmological perfection and grotesque evolutionary accidents of existence, we are driven forward by the reality of permanent change.
Chunky Move's Mortal Engine was the recipient of the 2008 Live Performance Australia Helpmann Awards Best Visual or Physical Theatre Production, and an 'Honourable Mention - Hybrid Art' in the 2009 Prix Ars Electronica, widely regarded as the most important international award for creativity and pioneering spirit in the field of digital media.
