Mango Dance Proud to announce Accredited

Certificate IV in Performing Arts

Mango Dance Studio is one of Sydney’s most highly regarded studios, priding itself on providing students with the highest level of tuition, training and performance for dancers.

We are very excited to report that Mango Dance has received accreditation for a Certificate IV in Performing Arts (Dance) course which  is fully recognised by the Government and students will be eligible for AUSSTUDY and ABSTUDY

The 1 Year full-time course will prepare dancers for a career in the exciting Dance and Performing Arts Industries.

With TV shows such as “So You Think You Can Dance”, “Dancing with the Stars”, “X-Factor” and more to come….dance is suddenly getting into the lime light and getting more and more popular.

Farah Shah, Director of Mango Dance says “A good Dancer is a smart Dancer, who can do it all”. So, I believe Dancers need to be trained in all aspects of Performing Arts - Dancing, Acting, Singing. They need to be a Triple Threat to do well in this industry and be able to dance Ballet right through to Hip hop.

The certificate IV will be taught by some of Australia’s and leading Choreographers; Including Nacho Pop, Pania Taku, Loredo Malcolm and Farah Shah from So You Think You Can Dance Australia ; Simonne Smiles from the Australian Ballet; Aude Florentin from the Royal Ballet; Paul Cordeiro from the Lion King; Damien Grima who studied at the Australian Ballet school and worked on Cruise ships for many years…..and guest Choreographers such as James Taylor from the Royal Ballet .

The course is extremely well rounded offering students classes in Classical Ballet, Commercial Jazz, Musical Theatre Jazz, Contemporary Dance, Hip Hop, Acrobatics and Pilates. The course aims is to produce a Dancer who can do it all, so the full time course further offers acting for dancers, singing for dancers, choreography, performance, anatomy and nutrition. The full time course is aimed at providing skills to gain work in the Industry as a: Dancer, Choreographer and Dance Instructor .

Director Farah Shah spent 2 years writing and developing the course herself to then achieve Accreditation as a Government recognised Certificate IV course. “
Opening a Dance studio has been a dream of mine since I was 13 years old and was told to go to University instead”. Shah studied a Degree in Computing Science and worked in the IT industry for 8 years before coming back to her passion…..dance !!!!

Shah passionately believes in the importance of on the job training.  So as part of the course assessment students will teach in front of an actual class, to ensure students graduate with all essential skills to make it in the Performing Arts Industry. The Mango Dance Certificate IV Course is also one of few Australia wide that incorporates Safe Dance and Dance Teaching units written by AUSDANCE (Australian Dance Council), so students graduate as recognised and trained dance instructors.

After running Mango Dance Studio for 6 years, Farah Shah realised what was lacking in the industry. There is definite need for more qualified professionals within the Dance Industry.  The Pilates and Fitness industries have all headed towards accreditation, it is now time that the Dance industry caught up.

To apply, applicants must be of school leaving age. Shah would like dancers of all ages to be able to do the course. Dancers must be Elementary+ level in Jazz , Contemporary and Ballet, and have a passion for all aspects of the Dance and Performing Arts Industries.
