In Lizzie Thomson's Panto the artist responds to well know musicals. Bypassing the original versions, Thomson goes straight to their amatuer reproductions, complete with a makeshift set, calico costumes, cardboard trees, piano playing and misquotations. Performing with an ensemble of community participants drawn from local amatuer dance and theatre companies, Panto is part contemporary dance solo, part site-specific community event and wholly, a celebration of the joys of dancing. Panto is a Campbelltown Arts Centre 2011 Dance Residency Project.
