LISA GRIFFITHS


Lisa studied at the Queensland University of Technology and the Centre of Performing Arts Adelaide. She worked with Chris Jannides’(NZ) before joining Gideon Obarzanek’s Chunky Move for 3 years touring nationally and internationally. In 2002 Lisa was commissioned ,with Kirstie Mckracken, to make a short dance work for Dance Tracks at the Studio, Sydney Opera House. Lisa worked with Tasdance, working with choreographers Natalie Weir, Phillip Adams, Tanja Liedtke and Sue Healey. Lisa was offered a Dance Web scholarship to attend Impulstanz Festival, represented Australia at the Swiss Coaching Project in Zurich under the direction of Carolyn Carlson (Paris), and has worked for Amanda Phillips on many projects including “Crush” for which she received an Australian Dance Awards nomination.  She has danced in Sue Healey films “Fine Line”, “3 Times” and “Once in a Blue Moon”. Lisa is a resident dancer in Sue Healey Company and has performed works “Fine Line Terrain” “Inevitable Scenarios”, “As you take time” and “The Curiosities”(Australian Dance Awards ' Most outstanding performance nomination) touring nationally, New Zealand and Japan. In 2009-10 Lisa toured the UK with Tanja Liedtke's “Twelve Floor” and danced the role of Tanja Liedtke in “Construct” on an Australian tour. Lisa worked with Meryl Tankard on   work “Pearl” for the Sydney Opera House. She joined Leigh Warren and Dancers in 2005, touring the USA performing “Quick Brown Fox”, by Leigh Warren and William Forsythe. She has danced for Leigh Warren in the Phillip Glass Operas, “Einstein on the Beach” and “Satragraha”. Then in “Seven” and “Impulse” for which she was also nominated for the Australian Dance awards 'Most outstanding performance by a female'  2009. For the 2010 Adelaide Festival Lisa danced for Prue Lang (William Forsythe Company) and is developing a new work 'a Side To One' with dancer Craig Bary to premier in Adelaide and Sydney next year. She looks forward to choreographic commissions this year with QUT, AC ARTS and Taipei Dance Forum Dance Company, Taiwan, later this year.
