Kickstart 2011
Applications for Next Wave Kickstart 2011 are now open
Now more than ten years old, Kickstart is Next Wave’s creative development opportunity for curators, directors, collectives and individual artists, encompassing a structured series of workshops, seminars, site visits and mentor sessions that attracts hundreds of applicants from around Australia.
In February 2011, up to 20 selected artists will embark on a year-long journey to make hugely ambitious, thoroughly researched and rigorously considered projects that will eventually be presented in the 2012 Next Wave Festival.

Emerging curators, directors, collectives and individual artists aged 18 to 30 from across Australia are invited to apply.
Also today, we announce our next Next Wave Festival theme:
The space between us wants to sing.
"Our work won’t be made for art’s sake, nor will it be made for people’s sake. It will resolutely occupy a shared and common ground where discoveries can be made ...."
New Artistic Director Emily Sexton’s debut Festival theme is a rally call, an invitation and a re-imagining of how artists present art, and how audiences might view and connect with art.
