Joshua Thomson is a 2005 Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance) graduate of the Queensland University of Technology. Joshua joined Tasdance in 2006 where he worked with Tanja Liedtke, Byron Perry and Nanette Hassall. That year he also joined dancenorth as a guest artist under the new directorship of Gavin Webber. Joshua later became a full time member of dancenorth and for the following 3 years until 2009, performing in 'Gravity Feed', 'Night Cafe', 'Remember Me' and the highly successful national tour of 'Underground'. In 2008 Joshua attended Impuls Tanz in Vienna, Austria, where he participated and taught workshops.
In 2009 he toured throughout the UK with Tanja Liedtke's 'Twelfth Floor', performed in 'Equus' with the Perth Theatre Company as both a Dancer and Actor, and Gavin Webbers 'The Rock Show' (QPAC). He has worked with numerous dance and theatre companies in Australia and abroad, which include Expressions, Splinter Group, La Boite Theatre Company, and PVC - Physical Virus Collective (Germany). Joshua also has undertaken the Australians in residency program at the Festspielhaus Sankt Pölten, Austria where they created 'Legless' and also performed Gavin Webber's 'Remember Me' as part of the Australian Festival.
Joshua is now a guest member of Physical Virus Collective (Germany) This year saw Joshua perform "Food Chain" by the Animal Farm Collective as apart of the Sydney Festival and also continued a European tour Produced by Performing Lines and PVC Tanz. He was also apart of the "Dance Massive Festival 2011 in Melbourne which he performed in SHAUN PARKER & COMPANY “HAPPY AS LARRY”.
Throughout his career he has also worked with independent choreographers such as Ross McCormack, Troy Mundy, Jo Stone and Paulo Castro.
Joshua's teaching credits include Footnote Dance Company, New Zealand School of Dance, WAAPA, Tanja Liedtke international workshops, dancenorth, Buzz Dance Theatre, STRUT Dance, LINK Dance Company, Splinter Group and PVC. |
