Hello Again is a musical adaptation of La Ronde by the dazzlingly inventive Michael John LaChiusa. Written by Arthur Schnitzler in 1900, La Ronde was intended as a satire of the Viennese. Not produced until 1921 it’s frank depiction of sex sparked riots resulting in obscenity charges. Attempting to ease their loneliness, ten characters mistake sex for intimacy in various decades of the twentieth century. In a dizzying array of music from each era, the bruising effects of reckless passion are chronicled in a daisy chain of sexual encounters.

Hello Again is the fourth Gaiety Theatre production at Darlinghurst Theatre Company. A stunning cast has been assembled for this sexy, racy, darkly funny and daringly honest work that redefines what musical theatre can achieve.

Stephen Colyer directed the highly successful Dying City, Boston Marriage and Fit To Be Tied. He has staged Sam Mendes’ production of Cabaret in Paris, Seoul and Madrid. Stephen returns to Darlinghurst Theatre Company to direct and choreograph Hello Again.

Nominated 5 times for Tony Awards, Michael John LaChiusa is among the most exciting new composer/lyricists in the world today. The shows he has written include Bernada Alba, See What I Wanna See, The Wild Party, Marie Christine and Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Mr. La Chiusa has won two Helen Hayes awards, Obie awards for Hello Again and First Lady Suite, and is a recipient of the Gilman-Gonzalez-Falla Musical Theatre Award.
