AIPA’s director Marg Haynes works with many of the LA entertainment industries heavyweights responsible for GLEE as well as other television shows and movies. Please take a moment to see who she is by reading industry references on www.marghaynes.com .  I think you may be inspired to know that there is someone working at her level, in it purely for the kids and Australian arts development.

Marg has put together a training programme and tour to LA for teenagers and young adults who love to sing and dance. The programme falls under the banner of GLEE Club Australia and will provide students with the opportunity of a lifetime to train, perform and record in Los Angeles and be part of a documentary about the entire experience. There are also stories being developed for channel ten news and channel nine’s today show about the project, so you can be assured that everything you and your students read here will be delivered.

We make no promise of work or representation.  The idea for the project is to give students with a burning desire to perform and train a real opportunity to achieve this. So many young Australians dream of going to LA and some get the opportunity through school trips to do this, however, the step from a school trip to the industry is huge and often overwhelming. Through this project, students work with the industry decision makers from the start. Their classes, workshops and shows are designed and taught by those working in the industry.

The best way to understand this project is to have a look at the attached itinerary. And call us with any questions.
Auditions will be held over the coming weeks to source tour members for the GLEE CLUB AUSTRALIA LA TOUR 2010 and we truly hope that some of your students will be involved.

As a teacher, there is an opportunity for you to join us throughout the process for professional development. This simply means that there is an opportunity to be part of the project and watch rehearsals, workshops, classes and performances in action, both in Sydney and Los Angeles.  We will require you to apply for the opportunity.

To give each student the best audition opportunity, AUDITIONS ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY – students can audition at one of three venues and we are currently scheduling audition times. If you have students who are interested, they should ask a parent to call us on 02 9966 4473 to schedule a time of 6 minutes in which to sing us a song that best reflects their personality, vocal range and style. If they are not a singer, we ask that they chose a short song that shows personality. They can then show off their dance skills in the open dance call. Everyone completes both components of the audition. There is more detailed information on the website.

This tour represents a huge opportunity for Australian talent age 13-31 and I would like to request your assistance in forwarding this information to talented students within your school or external that you know would benefit greatly by the experience AND those who would bring something really special.

The FACT sheet and 24 day itinery are available online via https://www.performingartstours.com.au/gleeclub-la-anaheim-dec-2010.html

Further, please note there is an International Film Company shooting a new documentary series based on this project called “Bright Lights”.  The Film’s Director Janette Howe would like to to tell the story of one or more of these performers who (hopefully) follows their dream, all the way to LA.
