FAST + FRESH DANCE PREMIERES!

November 2008 hosts the debut season of Fast + Fresh Dance, a showcase of the talents of young choreographers and dancers in greater Sydney.

Throughout the last week of November, Western Sydney Dance Action (WSDA) and Short + Sweet, invites young choreographers and dancers to participate in Fast + Fresh Dance at the Riverside Theatres, Parramatta. The season will present over twenty dance works choreographed and performed by emerging young artists.

Fast + Fresh Dance provides the opportunity for Australia’s young choreographers and dancers to not only display their talents, but also inspires and educates young performers to strive for their own artistic excellence and encourages active participation in dance at all levels.

As the newest member of the Short + Sweet dynasty of festivals, Fast + Fresh Dance is aimed at showcasing the talents of dance artists aged 16 to 21. Each performance, up to five minutes in length, will go through one of four rounds of Heats, which will be judged nightly by a panel of industry professionals. The heat winners will present their works in the Final on Saturday 29 November.

In keeping in the Short + Sweet tradition, all participants in Fast + Fresh Dance are eligible for sponsored awards such as Best Male Dancer, Best Female Dancer, Most Outstanding Choreography, and the Peoples Choice Award.

Susie Wood, Western Sydney Dance Action, truly believes in the positive exposure and opportunities this season will provide its participants.

WSDA is now seeking submissions from artists to participate in this year’s season. All styles of dance will be considered, so long as the choreography is innovative, well constructed and conveys a clear theme. Please see guidelines and entry form at www.wsda.org.au. Entries close 15 September 2008. Please note participants must be available to present their work at a showing at the Riverside Theatres during the week starting Monday 22 September.
