Opportunity for Dancers

Dr Karen Pearlman, dancefilmmaker and Head of Screen Studies at Australia's national screen school, AFTRS, is seeking expressions of interest from dancers who would like to be involved in workshops on Musicals.

These week long intensive workshops introduce the the genre of Musicals, and the principles of making them and of making Music Video and Dance Film. They cover staging of dance on screen, the stories and cinematics of dance and music driven screen productions, and some history and new ideas about these forms. Students will engage with a series of practical and conceptual exercises to develop their skills and ideas with physical and musical filmmaking.

The courses would have a market value of approximately $1200 if they were open to the public, but they are not! However, there may be an opportunity for six dancers (three in the week of February 9th, and three in the week of February 16th) to take these workshops for free in exchange for participating, as dancers, in the studio shoot exercise that the filmmaking students will be doing. Please send a cv and photo (small size please), along with information about your availability, to: Karen.Pearlman@aftrs.edu.au
