Dance Moves the Central Coast 2011

Expressions Of Interest Artists' Residence

Gosford City Council is inviting independent choreographers and dancers to submit an Expression Of Interest (EOI) to participate in an ‘Artists in Residence’ program as a part of its Dance Moves the Central Coast project happening from January - March 2011.

The Residency will offer professional development opportunities to choreographers and dancers under the guidance of an experienced Creative Director and guest mentors.

Commencing with an ‘ideas generator’ in January 2011, the Residency will operate over six weeks during February and March 2011 and enable a safe and inspiring space for the creation of a new work in dance and movement.
The work will premiere at Laycock Street Theatre, North Gosford in March 2011 in the lead up to the Australian Youth Dance Festival (17 - 23 April).

Council's Acting Cultural Development Officer Darlene Cole said artists must meet specific criteria to participate in the Residency.

"To be eligible for the Residency, a choreographer, dance artist or performer must be currently residing (part-time or full-time) on the Central Coast and be 16 years of age or over," said Ms Cole.
"As an Expression of Interest, artists are being asked to submit a CV and a short film clip which expresses their creative intent.
"The deadline for submissions is Tuesday 14 December 2010. Submissions will be reviewed by the panel with necessary interviews taking place with short-listed applicants prior to 30 December 2010.

"Selected Artists will each be awarded a stipend to assist with their time at the Residency," Ms Cole added.

Dance Moves the Central Coast 2011 engages and unites everyone with a passion for movement and dance; as an art form, a dynamic performance experience, or as an enjoyable recreation pursuit and form of exercise.

The project comprises an Artists' Residency which will culminate in a professional performance being held at Laycock Street Theatre and more than 20 free public workshops which will take place this summer across the Central Coast.
