The 2011 Dance Compass program is shaping up to be the most exciting to date, with workshops, classes and industry sessions being delivered by some of Australia’s leading director/choreographers and artists. A key component of the program will be the Tanja Liedtke Workshop Program – inspiring dance, where some of Tanja Liedtke’s collaborators will deliver a specially designed range of workshops based on the repertoire of Liedtke’s key works and the process behind the development of those works.

Dance Compass | Mach IV Now in its fourth year, Dance Compass has become an event that is regarded as critical to graduating students aspiring to a career in dance. The chance to engage in a structured program of industry orientation and first hand exposure to some of the country's leading dance artists and their practices, in a focused and collegiate environment has proven to be of immense benefit to all who have participated.
The Project Dance Compass aims to provide development, performance and promotional opportunities for talented young dance artists - choreographers and performers, graduating from their third year of tertiary study into the professional dance world in 2011.

Objectives
- To facilitate a platform of opportunity where graduates may present their choreographic art to their peers.
- Enable graduates and industry leaders to engage in a mutual sharing of critical dialogue, choreographic experimentation, and career development planning.
- To provide a structured program for graduates to imagine and plan their future careers.
Management
The 2011 Dance Compass program is presented by Ausdance NSW in partnership with the organising management team; Vanessa Chalker, Madeleine Martin and Catherine Wyburn, whose combined professional experience encompasses dance and music with a strong focus on the delivery and promotion of new Australian work. Shane Carroll, a Sydney-based arts consultant, and former dancer with the Sydney Dance Company and Nederlands Dans Theater, is acting as adviser to Dance Compass.
Main Workshop Venue
The Dance Compass 2011 venue will be Bangarra Dance Theatre Studios, Pier 4/5 Hickson Rd, Walsh Bay in Sydney's arts precinct.
