Contact Improvisation Workshops with International Teacher
Gustavo Lecce, talented international teacher, will be touring Australia for a series of workshop throughout October.
THE WORKSHOP
The focus of this workshop will be on the relationship between the dancer and the floor, developing skills for moving in and out of it.
We will begin by emphasising the use of the bone structure and its joints, as well as the relationships floor vs. verticality and weight vs. support.
Understanding the fundamental connection between the extremities and the body’s centre of gravity will increase the efficiency of our rolls, slides, spirals and landings.
As we learn to share our weight and find a common axis, we will study all the variables involved in the acts of supporting and being supported, allowing our combined structures to create a fluent support for the dance.
THE TEACHER
Gustavo Lecce (Argentina) original style has evolved through a diverse exploration and curiosity. He studied Tae Kwon-do, gymnastics and movement including techniques of contemporary. In 1990 he began studying Contact Improvisation, in both Europe and Argentina with teachers such as Nancy Stark Smith, Martin Keogh and Andrew Harwood.
Since 1994 he has been teaching at institutions and dance centres across Argentina and his involvement in the international CI scene has seen him leading workshops in Barcelona (Spain), Porto Alegre and Sao Paulo (Brazil).
