CHOREOGRAPHIC WORKSHOP 2010
…Are you a student and wanting to choreograph? We’ll show you how!
In 2010, WSDA are introducing a series of choreographic workshops for secondary school students wanting to develop individual projects, study HSC Dance or participate in Fast+Fresh Dance.
Students studying dance sometimes know how to put together a dance routine but aren´t always able to choreograph a dance piece or develop ideas into a choreographic work. This workshop is designed to give students the practical skills to allow them to achieve all that and more.
Beginning with a warm up class with an experienced choreographer, students will then have a hands on opportunity to tackle the art of composition, and the various techniques that build a choreographic process. They will collaborate with each other to develop ideas and find ways to combine movement into a choreographed work. Students will also have the opportunity to observe a professional choreographer and dancers creating a new dance work live on stage and ask questions about choices, ideas and methodology.
