Call for Applications - Blank Canvas 2009
The Firkin Crane, one of the focal points for dance in Ireland, announces its first annual call for applications for its new residency programme, BLANK CANVAS.
BLANK CANVAS encapsulates the essence of what the Firkin Crane aims to achieve through its residency programme.
It provides for a visiting artist/company, through an application progress, to work and stay with the Firkin Crane.
It provides dance artist(s) with the opportunity to explore their creative work processes, in ways which suit their needs and stage of creativity, for example a residency exploring an idea through an initial research phase or a residency which has a specific outcome in mind e.g. production or publication …..and all the stages in between.
Within the chosen applicants, four will be invited to particiate in the BLANK CANVAS’ Framed Residencies each year. The Framed Residency will be of fixed duration and with pre-determined outcomes and may provide some financially based support. Of the four Framed Residencies two will be with Irish based dance artists and two will be international.
