THE FIRST EVER AUDITIONS FOR THE ONLY BOLSHOI SCHOOL OUTSIDE MOSCOW – A WORLD FIRST
 
Hailed by critics around the globe as the greatest Ballet Company and institution in the world, the Bolshoi Ballet Theatre is soon to have a significant presence in Australia with the establishment of the Australian Bolshoi Ballet Academy in Melbourne, which will open in 2009. Auditions are currently underway nationally. "The choice of Melbourne for such a marvellous school is also an enormous honour to our city and newsworthy", noted well-known and highly respected Ballet veteran, Susan Thomson, Principal and Director.

"This school will be the only Academy in Australia teaching the pure Russian System, with all Russian teachers form Moscow and St.Petersburg.  Australian and overseas students will be vying for places to be able to gain the training which has produced such dancers as Baryshnikov, Nureyev, Markarova, Ulanova,Plisetskaya and Maximova".

Applications have been received from ballet students to audition for The Australasian Bolshoi Ballet Academy from Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, South Australia, Victoria and Western Australia.

The academy is under the directorship of well credentialed ballet teacher Ms Susan Thomson. The Russian teachers coming to Australia are all Bolshoi accredited and include the legendary Marina Kondratieva. Ms Thomson said “ it has taken a few years to get a number of the finer details sorted, but the wait will pay huge dividends for its students “
