Infused with intense physical theatre, film and dance, Shaun Parker’s Blue Love is a poetic and satirical take on the clichés of pop culture, romance, coupledom and suburbia. From a fantastic place where TV soap meets art-house film, Glenn and Rhonda Flune take the audience on an expedition in search of the perfect relationship. This fantastic show comes to Casula Powerhouse over four wondrous nights this July.

Blue Love is inspired by famous works of art, theatre, music and film; all of which deal with the concept of love. Glenn and Rhonda draw on and reference all of these art forms, parodying the lip-service given to love and its incarnations. This quirky, character-based work is a multi-media, physical theatre comedy: accessible, challenging and enormously entertaining.

Originally created as a short film, Blue Love has screened in Athens, London, Berlin, Melbourne, San Francisco, Krakow and at the Verona Film Festival, Italy. Awards include: Best Dance Film, Australian Dance Awards.

Blue Love was then developed into a full length physical theatre and dance work funded by Arts South Australia and the Sophiensaele Theatre in Berlin. Seasons have now been performed internationally at Sophiensaele Theatre, the Podweil Summerfestival and Tanzfabric’s Test um6 series (Germany), the Nelson Arts Festival (New Zealand) and the Singapore Festival. Blue Love showcased at the 7th Australian Performing Arts Market in Adelaide 2006 and the Asian Arts Market in Singapore 2007. Shaun Parker is the current recipient of the prestigious Robert Helpmann Fellowship.
