The Australian premiere of ASPHALTE at Sydney Opera House brings big, raw, and real chunks of street life to the stage in a hip-hop work of depth, humour and visual poetry: all the marks of Rigal’s distinctive work.
This riveting hip hop production is performed by five dancers Rigal plucked from the obscurity off the streets of Paris and who have now performed at the world’s leading dance venues.
Rigal’s astonishing dancers, break, pop, lock and krump their urban stories against a radiant block of light creating the startling effect of a comic book sequence.
With the minimalist set and stunning lighting design of Asphalte, Rigal has created a compelling dance theatre experience driven by the intense energy of his brilliant young hip-hop dancers.
