Contact Improvisation Workshops with Andrew Harwood

January 23rd - February 15th, Australia-wide

Following his successful workshops and performances in Australia in 2006 Andrew Harwood will again be teaching Contact Improvisation (CI) around Australia in January and February 2009. Andrew is the artistic director of AH HA Productions, a project oriented company focusing on improvisation as a performing art. He is recognised as an exceptional international teacher, performer and creator in the field of Contact Improvisation and in instantaneous choreography since 1975. Harwood studied, taught and performed with Steve Paxton, Nancy Stark Smith and Nita Little, the founding members Contact Improvisation. His background also includes gymnastics, yoga, modern dance, release technique, somatic studies, compositional improvisation and Aikido.  He's a bloody great CI teacher and a lovely fella too.

We're bringing him out to tour to Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, and Byron Bay. (See full details for dates below.) In all the cities, except Byron Bay, the workshops will run Monday to Friday for 3 hours each morning. Byron will be an intensive weekend instead.  The workshops are open to people with any level of experience. For those of you who don't know, Contact Improvisation is an accessible dance form based around the interplay between two or more people within the principles of weight exchange, gravity, momentum, counter-thrust and touch. Byron Bay    Fri 13 Feb 6pm - 9pm, and Sat 14 & Sun 15: 10am - 4pm

To secure your place in any workshop you need to provide a deposit of $100. This deposit is refundable up until the Early Bird cut-off date of Monday December 1, 2008.
