DANCENSW NEW EDITION: AUTUMN 2011
This issue of DanceNSW sees the year well underway with industry professionals taking a serious look at how things can improve for the dance sector.
In April, Ausdance National is holding a roundtable on Dance Education in Australian Schools to discuss ‘where to next’. Also, Ausdance NSW is facilitating the Indigenous Dance Forum in May.
As far as live performance is concerned – we talk to Graeme Murphy about his new work for Mod Dance Company Suite Synergy, for which we have 5 free double passes to offer (see article for details), while Dean Walsh premiers Fathom, inspired by his scuba diving and passion for marine conservation. Forseen is a double bill featuring works by Narelle Benjamin The Dark Room and Frances Rings Debris.
We’re also delighted to announce the recipients of the DanceWest residency program. This issue’s Western Sydney Update is an opportunity to hear from Emma Saunders who is back at Campbelltown Arts Centre as Dance Curator. She shares her vision, strategy and plans for the future with us.
And of course – check out What’s On for the latest in dance offerings this Autumn.
Ausdance will present the next Dance Education in Australian Schools roundtable at the Sydney Opera House on April 14 and 15, with registrations closing on Monday 11 April. The roundtable will provide opportunities for:
• delegates to become informed about the Australian Curriculum processes, possible resources and support materials for dance in schools;
• the planning of advocacy and lobbying strategies for governments to support dance in Australian schools.
Registrations are open, but numbers are limited, so don’t delay if you’d like to be part of the discussion.
